A major component of implementation of Vocational Education & Training Programme in the State is imparting vocational skills through Vocational Training Centres (VTCs). There are 2714 functional VTCs, mostly located in Schools/Madrashas.

At present students are pursuing Vocational Education under CSS-VHSE scheme from Class-IX (Level-1) to Class-XII (Level-4) in 600 Schools across the Statein association with SSA(Samagra Shikhsha Abhiyan) under School Education Department, Govt. of West Bengal

Further, this Department also intends to include 209 High Madrashas for implementation of Vocational Education as per CSS-VHSE scheme guidelines under State Plan Budget of MAME Department from 2017-18.
